A Message from our Chairman…
In 1993, when Steve Curington walked through the door of my church, he
was coming back after being gone for ten years. He had a pony tail down
past his waist, addicted to cocaine, and deep in the bonds of sin. I
remember the sense of frustration because I really didn’t know what to do
with him. What I did not realize was that God brought him back to open
my eyes to the need not only in our community, but to people with
addictions that were within my own church.
After Steve got right with God, he began to grow spiritually. I asked him
to write a tract to encourage others, which led to the 10 principles that we
use today. One Sunday morning, I asked my congregation to raise their hand if they knew
anyone that could benefit from one of Steve’s tracts. All 600 tracts were passed out that
day. The same week, we received seventeen phone calls from all across the country. Everyone
knew someone who was addicted to something. This is no surprise as all sin is addictive.
At that point, Steve came to me pleading with me to do something for all these
people. Reformers Unanimous International was born. RUI became the bridge guiding people
into what we believe is God’s plan to help the addicted, the local church – God’s support group!
The transformation that we began to see not only in men, women, children, and families within
our church as well as in the unchurched has just been overwhelming. I am seeing marriages
restored, children reunited with mom and dad, lives, lifestyles, and appearances drastically
changed.
With such powerful results, we simply had to share this with other churches. I knew it would
work elsewhere because we’re nobody special. It works because the principles are Biblical and
the Bible is for all people.
As God developed this ministry I was very surprised to find that most of the people we were
reaching have jobs, homes, and careers. I learned these people were termed, “functioning
addicts.” They have not come to terms with their addiction yet. They are still going through the
motions, holding down a job, coming home to their families at night, and maybe even going to
church from time to time. Their “hidden addictions” to pornography, eating disorders, cocaine,
alcohol or pain killers is slowly killing them.
There are fears that all of us have in bringing in people with severe addictions to particular sins;
however, the ministry of Christ was to hurting people. He was criticized for being with sinners,
yet that is where His ministry was and where the power of the Gospel can change lives and
transform them into effective, godly servants to our Lord and Saviour. It is still as real today as
it was 2,000 years ago, and God is proving that through Reformers Unanimous International.

A Message from our Founder & President…

Dear Friend of our ministry,
The Lord did greatly bless in 2006. Our ministry made many great
advances in this calendar year. We are grateful for God’s power and
provision that remained on RU throughout our tenth year of operation.
Every day it seemed something amazing happened!
We lost money, again! However, God saw fit to give us more buildings,
bigger buildings, 100 more chapters, more ladies, a dozens more men in
the Schools of Discipleship, and increased our sales by nearly 40%. In
other words, our only struggle is that as we have grown substantially, we have sacrificed cash for
growth.
Without question, our biggest need remains charitable donations. As a leader, I have failed to
make the raising of funds a proper focus within our ministry. I must do better in 2008. We are
asking God to give us a professional resource development employee to take us to that next level
of revenue raising.
To this end, I report that we are growing as a ministry. Additionally, we are paying off some old
debt and becoming stronger financially every year. But, we must become a ministry that is able
to finance its growth with our cash reserves or in partnership with generous investors in our
work.
This can be done. However, it will require hard work, dedication, and sacrifice on the part of our
pastor, our president, and our people. Otherwise, we will have to make great sacrifices on the
part of the program.
Please pray for 2008. Growth has become expected at RU. However, good growth is balanced
with good finances. May we see God continue to do a great work in our growth, and may we all
continue to play a great role in that work as we fund this ministry in the years to come.
Yours for the addicted,
Steven Curington

RUI Ministry Overview…
Reformers Unanimous began in April,
1996, with just one student. That person
left after one week, and the next four
weeks were spent teaching only spouses.
After a few weeks, four new people began
attending – Jill, Gene, Todd, and Kevin.
All four faithfully attended the following
two years. Their addictions of food, crack
cocaine, alcohol, and pornography became
the foundation upon which we would
build. They were four different people
with four different crippling addictions;
yet, they all had the same need – Jesus
Christ! Through our Program, we began
to grow as the Truth began to make
people free, finally. First Local Chapter of RU - 1999
The second year, we added counsel groups with counsel leaders to support the students
throughout the week in between meetings. This launched Reformers Unanimous into new
growth and development. In 1999, Steven Curington authored his premier curriculum – a
program guide of the weekly lessons with tapes to follow along, and a handbook encouraging
students to read, memorize & meditate, study, and listen to the preaching of the Bible. These
became the building blocks that Christ would use, through Reformers Unanimous, to change
lives. Our weekly attendance soared as hundreds of people began attending our meetings.
Other local chapters began to spring up
across the country, and even in foreign
countries. In 2001, a completed line of
workbooks to accompany the handbook
was printed along with an awards
program to encourage participation (1
Corinthians 3:12,14). We set a goal to
start ten new local chapters each year
and, most importantly, had Founder
Steven Curington, enter full time into
the ministry.
RU Chapters Across America
In the year 2000, another ministry began “within our ministry,” with the acquisition of suitable
housing. This allowed us to begin ministering to non-functioning addicts from around the
country as “in-patients” in our Men’s School of Discipleship. A generous donation led to the
purchase of a larger facility for this ministry. Transferring facilities opened up our first home for
the launching of our Women's School
of Discipleship Program.
In 2002, we increased our staff and
began many more local chapters
leading us to ask God for larger
facilities to house our headquarters.
The answer came when a generous
Christian businessman donated a
build-ing which we now call our
International Headquarters. This
allowed the ministry to begin opening
chapters at an increased rate of up to
one hundred per year!

In 2005, our steady growth incline continued with over 250 students attending the local Friday
night class and nearly 300 chapters across the U.S. The Schools of Discipleship were quickly
filled to capacity demanding a larger facility to meet the ever increasing need of the addicted.
The need was met through a miracle from God – the purchase of a 100-bed facility that was
formerly a convalescent home!
In our eleventh year serving the addicted, Reformers Unanimous has 25 full-time employees and
a total of 80 men and women in our Schools of Discipleship. We have over 500 U.S. chapters
and are growing at a rate of over 100 chapters each year. We also have many new programs
including a full line of curriculum in Spanish, an Institutional Program designed for the
incarcerated, and a Graduates Program for graduates from our Schools of Discipleship.

Schools of Discipleship Overview…
The mission of the Reformers Unanimous Schools of Discipleship is to train and empower men
and women to live victorious Christian lives, enabling them to have permanent victory from any
and all habit-forming crippling sins. In order to gain permanent victory we believe one’s
character must be changed involving discipline,
determination, and the wonderful grace of God.
Enrollment for one student into our program costs
$1,500 per month. The student, sponsor, family, or
sending church must provide a portion of this cost. The
monthly support fee is $540. Each student’s rent, fuel,
transportation, utilities, fixture and furniture costs are
met through this monthly support fee. We believe all
students, whether it be a church member, child, spouse
or sibling is worthy of this rewarding investment. The
remaining balance is met by the student who is given the
opportunity through our work-scholarship program.
Tuition fees are deducted from all earned wages until all tuition costs are met.
Women’s Campus
There is an overwhelming demand from prospective students who simply cannot afford the $540
monthly support. In order to help these students RU has established a "scholarship program"
where the ministry either absorbs the monthly support or the monthly support is paid by a donor.
During most of 2006 approximately 20% of our students were on the scholarship program.
Without exception, every student comes to us with a
heart breaking story of a life that has been badly
scared by sin. It is a difficult task to turn away
these addicts for financial reasons. If you would
like to assist with the support of a student, please
visit www.rupartners.org or call the office at (815)
986-0460. Your assistance could literally save a
life.
Our students are saturated with the Word of God
through scheduled daily Bible reading, chapel,
church, Bible study, North Love Bible College,
Friday night RU Class and regular counseling
sessions. With the tight, rigorous schedule
protecting our students from temptation and feeding
them spiritually they have a unique opportunity to grow in the Lord into a God-honoring, Godglorifying
person.

In 2004 God provided RUI with the opportunity to purchase a 100-bed residential facility in
Rockford, Illinois for $425,000. We stepped out by faith and purchased this property with a
short term interest free loan provided by friends of the ministry. But this facility
was in need of substantial renovation and remodeling before it would meet the Winnebago
County occupancy standards. Many generous donors contributed money, time and materials to
renovate the property. After countless hours of labor by our students and other friends of the
ministry, the County allowed us to open the first floor of the facility in 2005. Following the
installation of a fire sprinkler system and improved heating and ventilation systems, the County
allowed us to open the second story in 2006. With this increased capacity, we are now able to
take on more students. At December 31, 2006, there were a total of 60 men living in the RU
Men’s Home on Safford Avenue.
When the men moved into the new Safford men’s campus in 2005, we moved the women into
the Mulberry House (formerly the Men’s Home). Our enrollment quickly shot from 6 women to
our maximum of 30 ladies. The Women’s Home remains full and the need for a larger facility is
fast approaching.

Annual Revenue From All Sources
Financial Overview…
We are pleased to report that total revenues have grown steadily in recent years to reach a
record level of $1.8 million in 2006. However, the expenses of the ministry have also
grown rapidly and it seems that we are constantly constrained by access to working capital.
Like other ministries, RUI is entirely reliant on God for the means to support its operations
and growth. However, unlike the churches we serve, RUI does not have a congregation of
tithing church members through which God funds operations. Instead, RUI seeks to support
the ministry in part through the sale of curriculum, branded merchandise, through the
Schools of Discipleship tuition and work-related revenue. However, these activities alone
are not sufficient to meet the day-to-day financial needs of the ministry, let alone finance its
growth and expansion. The growth of RUI has been funded largely by our brothers and
sisters in Christ who have been led to support the ministry with gifts and cash donations.
Historically, donations have accounted for between 27% and 36% of total revenue, however
this figure has dropped to 21% in 2006.

Over the last several years God has allowed RUI to purchase buildings for the Men and
Women's Schools of Discipleship as well as the office building that serves as the ministry
headquarters. The acquisition of each of these properties involved nothing short of a
miracle. At the end of 2006 the accumulated cost of these buildings was approximately $1.7
million and the mortgages on these properties totalled $1.2 million.
God has used RUI to change the lives of thousands of hurting people over the last few years.
But there is so much more that needs to be done. If you are interested in supporting this
ministry, you can learn more about support opportunities at
