Reformers Unanimous is a Christ-centered, faith-based program. We believe the local church is God’s support group to minister to addicted people. Many pastors watch one of our recorded videos or recorded classes to catch a vision to have such ministry opportunity in their church.

Choose the right Director

Choosing the right director is one of the single most important decisions. The Director will lead a group of lay-people in the church to create a group atmosphere that seeks to live a victorious, spirit-filled life. He does not need to be a novice, but have some tenure as a sober, spirit-filled leader in the church. The director could be a paid staff positions responsibility, or a laymen type role. Some Pastor’s choose to be the Director until they develop someone to their liking to this role. The Director needs to be able to Teach / Preach during the last part of class and keep people’s attention and interest. It would be most helpful if he has some strong leadership qualities and organization skills. Pastors can feel free to call the office of the International Director for further advice and wisdom on this subject.

Director Training

The founder of Reformers Unanimous developed a strong curriculum, awards, challenge group techniques, and formats to get visitors and keep them. He also developed clear systems that would lead a new student to Christ and help that student develop a personal dynamic relationship with Christ. Our goal at Reformers Unanimous is for students to become dynamic lay-leaders in the local church. Because churches are independent and may choose to customize some parts of the program, it is strongly advised that men interested in being directors attend one of our training sessions in Rockford to learn the prototype that has worked since 1996. Register for an upcoming conference at our registration page.

Starter Kit

Curriculum, materials, awards, student resources, supplemental training DVDs and advertising materials make up a starter kit. The office of the International Director will help customize a starter kit for your church. The base starter kit starts at $900 and is customized from that starting point. New church plants may be less than $900, and larger assemblies could exceed $1800.

Many churches can obtain the finances needed for the starter kit with just a few offerings. We have found that church members will give to help others with addiction struggles as it often hits “close to home”. The RU National Office can help with other ideas to raise the necessary funds or work out a payment plan.

Application

The application has several sections covering the following information:

  • Information page– this information is how we will communicate and ship products to your church and further assist your Director.
  • Support Option– Reformers Unanimous has an annual program fee of $250; however, our desire is to be missionaries to the addicted, not book sellers. Because of that, RUI requests that your church consider supporting the international ministry of RUI or one of its men supported as a Missionary to the addicted. We believe that Samaria, as mentioned in Matthew 28, was not only a specific geographical location, but represented those who were considered outcasts. Our goal at RUI is to assist local churches worldwide of like faith to minister to the addicted, as well as send them potential students through our advertising campaigns and techniques. If your church supports our ministry or one of its missionaries, as a thank you, all program fees will be waived and your church will receive chapter/ bulk pricing discounts that could save the church up to 40% on core curriculum purchases. By choosing this option, your program will be very close to self-supporting except for some advertising options you may choose locally.
  • Charter– It is our desire that certain aspects of the program be followed without omission. This charter specifies those areas and includes general guidelines for the established relationship between RUI and the local church. By no means do we intend to interfere with a direction that the Holy Spirit may impress upon a pastor. If your church desires to not follow the simple request, we do have a non-charter option, where your church may choose to call your program another name to give you complete liberty. This has never been an issue with churches who use the Reformers Unanimous name.
  • Doctrinal Statement– Anyone can purchase the RU materials and awards from our online store; however, Reformer Unanimous is a trade name for churches that follow the Biblical views and doctrines of the Word of God. Reformers Unanimous is operated out of North Love Baptist Church in Rockford, Illinois. We follow the traditional Baptist doctrine and are independent in nature. If you wish to utilize the name of Reformers Unanimous as the name of your recovery program, and wish to be listed on our website, we will request a copy of your doctrinal statement and ask the Pastor to review ours. We do not want to be a hindrance to your church, nor become ecumenical with our program.

RU Weekend at your church

It is recommended that you use the expertise of our trainers. RUI has seasoned trainers and preachers who can come to your church for a special training weekend. Usually the Pastor invites the church for a 4 hour recovery class held Saturday afternoon. Many Pastors choose to allow the representative to preach all three services on Sunday emphasizing the biblical pattern for a recovery ministry as well as the core teaching of the crucified Christian Life.

The very best Reformers Unanimous Recovery Programs were started by choosing the right director, having them trained by Rockford trainers, and having a National Representative come to the church to launch the program. This document is intended to give needed information to convey the spirit we have in Rockford to help anyone we can with a struggling addiction by sending them to Christ-centered churches. We do not want to hurt anyone or rule over any Pastor.

We have simply developed a program and curriculum that has proven to work in all different types of community settings. We have a global vision of reaching as many functioning and non-functioning addicts in our world and directing them to God’s support group – the Local Church.
